Legal Interpreting Course Description
This 8-week course is designed to train entry level legal interpreters in Spanish and English to become professional interpreters in the legal field. Students will be introduced to legal and court interpreting roles and skills, while comprehensively learning legal terminology. Students will also learn and understand the court system and the strict ethical standards and responsibilities legal interpreters are bound by. Students will also learn and practice important note taking techniques when participating in legal mocks.
Medical Interpreting Course Description
This 8-week course is designed to train entry level medical interpreters in Spanish and English to address the needs of hospitals, doctors’ offices, and many other medical facilities. This course also includes consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation, and ethics of the medical interpreter, along with important medical terminology used in the medical profession. Students will also learn and practice important note taking techniques when participating in medical mocks.
Immigration Interpreting Course Description
This 8-week course in Spanish and English will provide students with knowledge they will need by learning important immigration terminology. Also, students will learn the practices and procedures used in various hearings conducted by the Immigration Court, such as removal and deportation proceedings, application for asylum, and many more procedures (Master Calendar Hearings) covering all aspects of the Immigration Court.
